Origins

Moringa oil’s allure stretches back for thousands of years. The Romans used it extensively as a base in perfumes and the ancient Egyptians recognised its natural protective properties and used it as a natural skincare treatment. Vases containing moringa oil have even been found inside ancient Egyptian tombs, showing how venerated this oil has been throughout the ages as tombs were filled with items that were deemed valuable so the deceased could use them in the next life.

A Natural Wonder

Native to the Himalayas, moringa oil is also known as Nebedaye, which means 'never die' in several African languages. The name relates to the fact that the oil is naturally long lasting and is resistant to oxidation. The Moringa Oleifera tree, also known as the 'Tree of Life', now grows in over 82 countries and is one of the most widely cultivated plant species throughout the world due to its unique natural properties.

Anatomy

The moringa tree is a fast-growing, drought-resistant tree which can reach a height of 10 – 12 metres. It has fragile branches, delicate, feathery leaves and long, three-sided pods which hang down in clusters. Once planted, by the second year, a single tree can produce around 300 pods. By year three, there could be around 400-500 pods. A healthy tree can yield 1,000 or more pods.

Skincare That Cares

Moringa can be effective in skincare because it can help to nourish and balance all skin types. It can help to unveil healthier, smoother skin due to its naturally calming properties. It can also help your skin to feel naturally cleansed, more radiant and revitalised whilst providing an uplifting scent.
